Position Summary: The ELA/Literacy Consultant will serve as a resource, collaborator, and coach to districts and provide quality service in the areas relating to literacy efforts in assessment/evaluation, curriculum design/development/implementation, effective instruction, professional staff development, and state and federal mandates and initiatives.
Qualifications- A master's degree in reading or literacy education, or master's degree in a related area with either reading or literacy endorsements on state license
- Expertise in improving student learning through the implementation of high-quality evidence-based reading/literacy strategies
- Three to five years of successful classroom teaching that includes reading/literacy instruction in grades PreK-12th grade.
- Provide information and professional development to ESC staff and/or districts related to current state initiatives and mandates in the areas of curriculum and instruction including tiered interventions and enrichments, assessment design, curriculum mapping, instructional coaching and leading professional development
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills applicable to a variety of audiences including teachers, administrators, parents, and students
- Preferred:
Completion of Science of Reading modules or any state-approved alternative pathway.
- Arrange and/or conduct in-services/workshops, research activities, and special projects relating to literacy/ELA curriculum and instruction.
- Engage in literacy/ELA curriculum design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Implement state-mandated programs as assigned.
- Stay informed of trends, issues, and mandates/policies regarding literacy curriculum and instruction and relate this information to customer district personnel through in-services/workshops.
- Support ESC initiatives.
- Other duties may be assigned by the superintendent/direct supervisor.
Salary schedule placement commensurate with experience and training.
