The Quality Engineering Intelligence team within Maps Client Quality Engineering is pioneering AI-first development practices for quality engineering systems. We're looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer who is passionate about leveraging AI to build better software faster. You'll be a technical co-lead establishing Apple's AI-native engineering practices, building intelligent quality tools, and demonstrating how modern AI development can multiply productivity while maintaining Apple's quality standards.

• Partner with the technical lead to establish engineering standards for AI-native development and define frameworks for evaluating AI-generated code quality
• Design and implement full-stack quality engineering systems using AI-assisted development, including web applications, backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and automation frameworks
• Lead architecture discussions and drive technical decisions that shape how quality tools are built at Apple
• Ship complete features end-to-end with proper testing, security, monitoring, and deployment, taking ownership of the entire development lifecycle from concept to production
• Stay at the forefront of AI coding tools and practices, evaluating emerging technologies and experimenting with new approaches
• Work with QE teams across Apple to understand quality challenges and rapidly prototype solutions
• Partner with SWE and platform teams to integrate proven AI tools into workflows
• Mentor team members on effective AI tool usage and code evaluation practices, teaching AI-first development practices to the broader QE organization
• Guide engineers on reviewing and improving AI-generated code, raising the technical bar across teams through hands‑on coaching and knowledge sharing
• Share learnings through demos, documentation, and cross‑team collaboration

• B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• 7+ years of professional software development experience shipping production systems
• Expert proficiency in Python and JavaScript/Type Script
• Proven expertise using AI-assisted development tools (Git Hub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) to accelerate delivery
• Strong full-stack development skills across web, backend, and data systems
• Demonstrated ability to architect, review, and ship AI-generated code with high quality standards
• Deep understanding of modern software engineering practices: testing, CI/CD, code review, Dev Ops
• Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative development in fast-paced environments
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with ability to mentor and teach
• Strong communicator who can present technical concepts clearly, sell ideas to stakeholders, and build consensus across teams
• Track record of technical leadership on cross-functional initiatives

• Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field
• Experience building quality engineering, testing, or developer productivity tools
• Background in automation with insights on reporting and daily triage workflows
• Experience with deployment stack:
  Docker, Kubernetes, Rio
• Proficiency with web frameworks:
  React
  
  JS, REST APIs
• Familiarity with alerts and monitoring tools such as Splunk
• Background in rapid MVP development and iterative prototyping
• Familiarity with Apple development ecosystem, platforms, or tooling
• Track record of successful stakeholder management and cross‑org initiatives
• Experience with test automation frameworks and quality metrics
• Technical writing or presentations showcasing engineering work
• Demonstrable 3-5x productivity improvements using AI development tools
• Strong system design and architectural thinking
• Passion for developer productivity, automation, and intelligent tooling
• Ability to evaluate emerging AI technologies and establish best practices
