A global technology and manufacturing organization is seeking a Senior Director of Finance to serve as the strategic financial leader for a large, complex business unit within a high-growth Life Sciences portfolio.
This role partners directly with the Business Unit General Manager and executive leadership team to guide financial strategy, capital deployment, and operational performance across a globally distributed organization. The position provides full ownership of financial performance and will lead a global finance team supporting commercial, operational, and product development initiatives.
This is a highly visible leadership role with broad scope across planning, performance management, capital investment, and cross-functional decision support.
What You Will Lead Business Unit Financial Leadership- Own the financial performance of a global product portfolio, including full responsibility for profit and loss, balance sheet performance, and cash flow management
- Lead long-range planning, annual operating plans, forecasting cycles, and executive reporting for the business unit
- Translate complex financial data into clear insights that guide operational and strategic decisions
- Identify financial risks and opportunities early and partner with leadership to execute mitigation strategies
- Deliver rigorous performance management through standardized reporting, business metrics, and analytical frameworks
- Partner with business leadership to prioritize investment decisions across product development, commercial expansion, and operational initiatives
- Evaluate capital deployment opportunities with a focus on profitability, return on invested capital, and long-term value creation
- Support pricing strategy and margin optimization in collaboration with global commercial teams
- Provide financial oversight for R&D investments and ensure disciplined evaluation of project business cases
- Act as a key advisor to the Business Unit leadership team, influencing decisions across operations, commercial strategy, product innovation, and market expansion
- Collaborate closely with global teams spanning manufacturing, sales, marketing, HR, IT, and product development
- Provide financial guidance on new product launches, pricing strategy, market entry initiatives, and operational efficiency programs
- Support operational leadership in managing cost structure and improving profitability across manufacturing and supply chain activities
- Lead and develop a global finance organization spanning multiple levels of seniority
- Create an environment focused on talent development, accountability, and high performance
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and analytical rigor within the finance organization
Serve as a trusted mentor and strategic thought partner across the broader leadership team
- Ensure financial reporting, accounting policies, and internal controls meet regulatory and corporate governance standards
- Maintain strong compliance with U.S. GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Provide oversight of statutory reporting and financial governance across global business locations
- 15+ years of progressive finance leadership experience
- Demonstrated success managing financial performance for large business units or product portfolios
- Experience operating in complex, matrixed organizations with global stakeholders
- Track record partnering with senior leadership to drive strategic and operational outcomes
- Exposure to manufacturing or product-based businesses is highly valued
- Strong executive presence with the ability to influence decisions beyond the finance function
- Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams
- Comfortable navigating complex organizations and aligning cross-functional stakeholders
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance big-picture priorities and operational detail
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills
- Experience with enterprise reporting and analytics platforms (e.g., consolidation and business intelligence tools)
- Ability to translate financial insights into actionable recommendations
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
- MBA or advanced business education preferred
- Domestic and international travel expected (approximately 25%)
