We are seeking someone who approaches problem solving with passion, creativity, and curiosity.
In this highly impactful role, you will use your mechanical design engineering skills to bring our Magic products to life. This looks like:
Collaborating with industrial designers, hardware, software, product integrity, and technology teams to define the vision of a product. Exploring multiple product form factors and developing new product architectures. Defining kinematic behaviors to support ergonomic optimization. Integrating mechanisms, sensors, and other electromechanical components. Partnering with internal manufacturing teams and external vendors to optimize designs for function, cosmetics, and manufacturability. Ensuring design meets requirements through the life of the product through stress and tolerance analysis, DFMEA, prototyping, testing, and failure analysis.
Master's degree in mechanical engineering or closely-related major. Prior experience in other relevant industries promotes diverse perspectives and approaches to solving problems. 2+ yrs experience in a mechanical engineering design role. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely-related major. Solid engineering fundamentals: statics, strength of materials, kinematics and mechanism design, and manufacturing. Traveling ~10-15% of the year internationally to support engineering build activities. Great communication skills: written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate design ideas and contribute to brainstorms.
