The Datacenter Systems Architecture team seeks an outstanding computer systems or technology architect to influence and drive new product designs in system power architecture and power management. The candidate will have the skills and experience to create system power architectures, surprise and delight our customers, and advance our products’ performance, size, power, thermal, and cost goals.
DescriptionThis position is a multi-disciplinary and cross-functional lead engineering role encompassing all aspects of computer system design. The Power Systems Architect will provide architectural guidance and leadership to cross-functional engineering teams in establishing new product definitions and requirements for system power architecture.
The role may require occasional domestic and international travel.
- Providing power delivery architecture guidance for Datacenter system applications
- Possessing subject matter expertise in power electronics and voltage regulators
- Establishing and driving workload power budgets at system and module levels
- Performing and guiding peak power measurements on system hardware to tune and refine existing power models, for datacenter workloads and applications.
- Determining product system integration feasibility, via collaboration with mechanical, physical, thermal, and electrical engineering stakeholders.
- Collaborating with Performance Architects to define, model and drive improvements in performance, power efficiency and cost.
- Authoring System Architecture specifications, block diagrams, and conduct review with the product teams.
- Analyzing, guiding and supporting thermal management solutions and trade-offs
- Be innovative and curious about emerging datacenter workloads and applications to drive the most effective system power architecture choices.
- Leading system architecture and guiding early design team activities
- Defining, developing and utilizing tools, scripts, automation and methods of system analysis
- Mentoring Junior Engineers in adopting best practices and data-driven processes
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Has core competence and subject matter expertise in power electronics for server system designs, grounded understanding of server and rack based designs.
- Possesses strong technical breadth across several computer subsystem technologies, e.g., CPU, GPU, TPU, storage, memory, power delivery, power management, networking, I/O, thermal management.
- Able to create, review and approve engineering requirement specification documents.
- Capable of modeling, characterizing power
- Possesses functional experience in defining power architecture solutions for complex server system designs deployed in datacenter applications. Demonstrated experience in modeling, power states characterization, and system power budget planning.
- Understands schematics, PCB layout & designs; has experience in bring-up, system debug and hands-on lab environments.
- Comprehends the roles of HW/FW/SW layers and how they interact in system design.
- Has strong analytic, verbal, written and communication skills. Able to summarize and effectively communicate technical issues and actions to key stakeholders and leadership teams
