Server Hardware Development Engineer: AWS Hardware Engineering creates compute, storage, accelerator, and enterprise servers for Amazon’s web services. We are seeking experienced hardware design engineers to design and build next-generation servers and AWS-specific hardware components. Our designs strive for performance, cost-efficiency, and operational excellence and are critical to AWS success and the more than one million customers who use AWS today.

We solve challenging technology problems and build architecturally sound, high-quality servers and components to enable AWS business strategies. Our success hinges on highly respected server infrastructure, with massive scale and rapid integration of emergent technologies.

• As Cloud Hardware Development Engineer (CHDE), bring new technology to our servers and scale how we operate a massive, growing fleet.
• Collaborate with internal development teams and external suppliers to deliver new servers with leading performance and quality.
• Establish strategic vision and drive execution in defining and delivering new products and services.
• Lead the integration and delivery of servers, support automated monitoring, and failure analysis services to operate, debug, and scale our servers.
• Work closely with other AWS software teams to tailor and operate server solutions for the AWS environment.
• Support launching servers into production and operating the fleet.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include interfacing with internal customers to understand project requirements and facilitate system development on top of your server design. You will solve operational challenges to improve the current customer experience and develop improved systems for future designs. You will work directly with vendors and ODM/JDM design teams to develop and manufacture products at scale.

The team is comprised of Hardware Design Engineers, System Design Engineers, Software Development Engineers, and Technical Program Managers, all collaborating to deliver the best specialized server fleet possible to customers.
