Summary
Apple is recruiting individuals to join our Soft Goods Materials Global Supply Management team. The team is responsible for sourcing, manufacturing development execution, and production of Apple’s differentiated and unique materials including textiles, adhesives, and polyurethane. Apple’s core business is the creation and development of world‑class industrial designs, and supply chain management must be equally unique, innovative, and specialized.
DescriptionDue to the importance of this discipline in defining Apple’s brand, this business group must innovate product design and the very business processes by which we accomplish objectives. Apple is growing in product offerings and volume, presenting opportunities for individuals with aggressive innovative thinking. The ideal individuals have advanced education and a career focus on new product development, launch, program management, manufacturing practices, supply chain, logistics, and business.
Responsibilities- Supply chain management: identification, development, negotiation, and management of Apple soft goods materials suppliers. A strong global supply base requires travel.
- On‑time delivery: schedule, capacity, and supply planning to meet Apple’s production demand.
- Risk mitigation: evaluation of technical and business risks using data‑based analysis and developing sound mitigation alternatives.
- Program management: ability to manage all of the above tasks and personnel resources.
- Cross‑functional support: with Apple’s industrial design, product development, and operations teams.
- Technology development management: evaluation and development of new technologies using new materials, finishes, and processes.
- Build support: on‑site management of materials and final assembly partners to manage development builds, risk mitigation, and ramp.
- Cost: development, negotiation, and execution of a part and assembly cost strategy. Understanding of materials manufacturing processes and techniques aids evaluation of supplier capabilities and opportunities for Apple.
- Travel up to 25%.
- 5+ years in NPI operations readiness, supply chain, or similar industry.
- Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or similar discipline.
- Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- Good communicator, capable of working in multinational environments, driven and motivated by accomplishing world‑class objectives.
Base pay ranges from $128,400 to $236,700, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees can become shareholders through discretionary employee stock programs, purchase stock at a discount via the Employee Stock Purchase Plan, and receive comprehensive medical, dental, retirement, discounted products, free services, and educational reimbursement. This role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commission payments, and relocation.
