Indium Foils Engineer Expert - Remote
We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Engineer to join our team in the development, processing, and production of high‑purity Indium foils for advanced applications. This role bridges R&D, process optimization, and scaled production, supporting innovations in materials used across industries such as electronics, semiconductors, and photovoltaics.
Key ResponsibilitiesR&D
- Develop and optimize formulations and techniques for indium foil production.
- Conduct material characterization (e.g., purity analysis, thickness control, mechanical and thermal properties).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on new product development and customer‑specific requirements.
- Support testing of foil performance under various environmental and operational conditions.
- Design and refine production processes for consistency, repeatability, and scalability.
- Implement process control methodologies (e.g., SPC, Six Sigma, DOE).
- Develop SOPs, work instructions, and quality documentation for foil manufacturing.
- Investigate and resolve process‑related issues with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Oversee daily foil production operations, ensuring quality, throughput, and yield targets are met.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment and process bottlenecks.
- Train operators and technicians on new procedures and equipment.
- Monitor and document KPIs, conducting periodic audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years experience in thin metal processing, materials development, or foil production (indium preferred, but not required).
- Experience with metallurgical equipment (rolling mills, furnaces, cutting/slitting machines).
- Strong understanding of metallurgy, crystallography, and metal deformation behavior.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in data analysis tools (Excel, JMP, Minitab, etc.).
- Hands‑on experience with indium or other soft, ductile metals (e.g., gold, tin, silver).
- Knowledge of vacuum or cleanroom processes.
- Experience in scaling up R&D processes to production.
- Understanding of supply chain and raw material sourcing for specialty metals.
