Position Overview:
As a Digital Displays Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of electrical components and systems for aerospace digital display products. From the initial requirements phase through to the finished product, you will play a key role in ensuring our displays meet high standards of performance, quality, and reliability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, layout engineers, and QA to deliver integrated solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the electrical design and development of digital display products, from requirements gathering through to finished product.
• Perform board bring-up, functional testing, and validation of electrical components and systems.
• Design power supplies to power on-board electronics as well as LED backlights drivers and LCD heater drivers.
• Familiarity with FPGA design (both hardware and firmware).
• Generate CCA Bill of Materials and work with procurement to have needed parts ordered.
• Ability to do electrical component derating analysis and board power consumption estimates.
• Ensure that designs meet project requirements, timelines, and industry standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and layout engineers to develop integrated hardware solutions.
• Create, review, and maintain clear and detailed documentation of designs, test results, and validation procedures.
• Work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve design issues, ensuring product functionality and performance.
• Contribute to requirements validation, including defining test cases, identifying potential issues, and ensuring thorough validation processes.
• Design display systems that will pass MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-704, and/or DO 160 qualification testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot customer returned product from the field to isolate and repair faults.
• Ability to use various test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, photometers, etc.).
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s degree a plus).
• 5+ years of experience in digital display hardware design.
• Strong experience with board bring-up, functional testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Proficiency in schematic capture and system integration.
• Ability to conduct formal design reviews with the customer for milestone tracking as well as status meetings as needed with the customer to track progress.
• Experience with requirements validation and creating related documentation.
• Solid understanding of electrical engineering principles and standards.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional engineering disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with driving and controlling digital AMLCDs and their video protocols (LVDS, RGB, Display Port, etc.).
• PCB design experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with design and testing tools such as Altium, OrCAD, etc.
• Knowledge of EMC/EMI design considerations for digital electronics.
