POSITION SUMMARY

Spicer Group is seeking an individual with a background in civil engineering to lead efforts in managing existing projects, existing clients, and cultivating new business relationships within the Municipal Service Group at our growing office in northern Atlanta. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, knowledge of the surrounding communities, and municipal contacts within the greater Atlanta area.

Our Municipal Service Group plans, designs, and oversees the construction of infrastructure projects that can include drinking water distribution and treatment, wastewater collection and treatment, and roadway improvements.

Our client development professionals are active within professional organizations, members of civic clubs, attend professional conferences and public meetings, seek out new business opportunities, and interact with our clients frequently. This position will be responsible for building business with governmental clients and is a great opportunity for career advancement within an award‑winning firm. This position also includes project management responsibilities such as proposal preparation, business development plan coordination, budgeting, scheduling, directing team members, prioritizing projects, and communicating within the team to deliver quality work to our clients on time and on budget.

Staff in this position work alongside our service groups of engineers, surveyors, planners, architects, and more.

A TYPICAL DAY ON THE JOB
  • Develop and cultivate contacts within area government and municipalities to advertise and market Spicer Group. Meet with potential or existing governmental clients to foster long‑term relationships.
  • Work with Spicer Group leadership to prepare and implement a regional business development plan. This includes working with service group leaders within the company to cross‑sell all Spicer Group’s services.
  • Plan for and attend a variety of public events such as conferences, trade shows, chamber of commerce events, and other client‑related functions to represent Spicer Group. These may require work beyond typical business hours.
  • Involved in the management and supervision of personnel including interviews, hiring, supervision, coordination, dismissal, etc.
  • Attendance at project meetings, public hearings, and gives presentations when required at interviews, meetings, events, etc.
  • Preparation of proposals on medium to large projects with subsequent project management responsibilities including budgeting, scheduling, resource management, directing team members, prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines, and communicating with superiors, other consultants, and clients.
  • Responsible for conceptualizing the initial design approach for projects. Responsible for maintaining quality control for design, plans, specifications, and costs.
  • Report writing and report production as well as oversight of report writing and report production by employees.
  • Makes periodic visits to construction sites as appropriate to review conditions.
