Assistant Controller (Construction - CPA)

Who: A growing construction firm is looking for a CPA with deep experience in construction accounting.

What: You will assist in managing accounting operations with a focus on percentage of completion accounting and financial compliance.

When: This full-time role is available immediately.

Where: Based in Canton, GA.

Salary: $125,000 to $135,000 annually, plus performance incentives.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in all areas of construction accounting, with a strong emphasis on percentage of completion reporting. You will play a critical role in tracking project costs, ensuring GAAP compliance, and managing internal financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage job costing and track project financials using percentage of completion accounting.
• Assist with preparation of financial statements and month-end close processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely filing of sales and use taxes.
• Collaborate with project managers to maintain budget accuracy and forecast projections.
• Support audits and help maintain internal controls.
• Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and project profitability reports.
• Help implement systems and processes for better financial visibility and control.

Qualifications:

• CPA certification required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of percentage of completion revenue recognition and GAAP.
• Proficient in construction accounting software (e.g., Business Central) and Excel.
• Detail-oriented, analytical, and a strong communicator.
