Shall have a minimum of a high school diploma; completion of business and/or accounting classes is preferable.
Shall have three or more years of bookkeeping/accounting and computer experience.
Preference may be given to incumbents with two or more years of post‑secondary education in a business and/or accounting field.

Incumbent must be able to provide a Criminal Background Check with results that adhere to Emanuel County Board of Education Policy GAK(1).
Shall be able to demonstrate speed and accuracy in performing math computations and other accounting functions.
Demonstrates the ability to: prepare, enter, and record all disbursements and income to appropriate accounts.
Maintain accurate and up-to‑date filing system.
Perform all data entry for purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll functions on the accounting system.
Maintain accurate data for state interactive financial reports.
Cooperate with and maintain a good relationship with all other school system employees.
Maintain and verify all accounting spreadsheets.
- Reconcile monthly bank statements; handle all cash receipts and bank deposits.
- Maintain school's grant accounts.
- Prepare school's payroll reports.
- Complete field trip requests, citing correct fund code and receipt and deposit field trip monies and disburse monies to proper agencies.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board rules, regulations and policies.
- Receive, count, record and deposit all monies collected from clubs, classes, departments and athletic activities; record financial activities regarding budgeted funds.
- Process purchase orders; review check requests for proper documentation; prepare checks to pay bills; post ledgers; reconcile monthly and yearly accounts, and maintain balanced accounts.
- Compile, type, file and maintain forms, summaries, reports and records as necessary to ensure accurate, up-to-date accountability.
- Receive payments, and make change for lost book fines, yearbooks, pictures, field trips and other obligations.
- Order and maintain school supplies needed for staff to perform daily duties.
- Maintain good operation of school copiers and fax machine.
- Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.
- Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Carry out such other duties which may be assigned by direct supervisor.
