Job Purpose:
As a Health Physics Consultant, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining radiation protection programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the highest standards of safety. You will monitor and assess radiation exposure, conduct surveys, and provide expert advice on radiological hazards
As a Health Physics Consultant, your main responsibilities would be to:
* Provide expert Radiation Protection advice to ensure compliance with Ionising Radiations Regulations (IRR
17), COSHH, and Environmental Permitting Regulations (EPR
16).
* Support and review radiation safety advice issued across programmes.
* Participate in radiological documentation reviews and recommend improvements.
* Guide on Schedule 4 IRR
17 matters, ensuring safety-related advice is appropriately recorded, auditable, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
* Provide specialist guidance on hazards associated with substances such as beryllium.
* Facilitate functional management of radiological safety performance, including monitoring, reporting, and cross-divisional coordination.
You'll have:
* Valid Radiation Protection Adviser certificate (UK RPA competence).
* Proven experience as technical lead or contract manager on major projects.
* Strong strategic planning skills and ability to implement health physics programmes.
* Experience mentoring colleagues and contributing to professional development/training.
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
* Hold membership of Society for Radiological Protection (SRP).
* Demonstrable commercial awareness and evidence of delivering innovative solutions.
