About the role

We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Child Protection Team in Devon on an ongoing locum basis. This role offers the flexibility of part-time or full-time working while giving you the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.

You will work within a supportive and dynamic team, managing statutory child protection work and ensuring children are safeguarded in line with legislation and local authority procedures. What you will do

Manage a caseload of children subject to child protection plans and care proceedings, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

Undertake assessments under the Children Act 1989, identifying risk, need, and protective factors.

Develop, implement, and review child-centred plans to reduce risk and promote positive outcomes.

Prepare clear, analytical reports for court, case conferences, and statutory meetings.

Work directly with children and families, building meaningful relationships and advocating for children’s needs.

Collaborate effectively with partner agencies including health, education, police, and legal services.

Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case records in line with Devon County Council standards.

Participate in supervision, training, and reflective practice to continually improve service delivery.
