Building Services Manager

West Lothian

An opportunity has arisen for a Building Services Manager to join the team at Galliford Try.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for attaining the highest H&S standards on site. Lead the site team by example and develop a positive H&S culture. To be measured monthly on H&S performance.
  • Review the safety and quality plan and ensure it meets the highest standards, ensuring compliance with the GT business management system (BMS) and health, safety and environmental (SHE) standards.
  • Manage and develop the H&S plan (construction phase) specific to each project in conjunction with the planning supervisor and project manager. Then manage and develop the plan during the construction phase and be measured on performance.
  • Manage all discipline sub-contractors to produce a detailed contract programme for their respective works relating to the overall contract programme.
  • Ensure all discipline sub-contractors produce a weekly return of labour, plant and materials.
  • Develop a "Best Quality" culture with sub-contractors. Set high standards with regard to workmanship. Accept only the best quality and reject inferior workmanship ensuring compliance with the GT BMS quality procedures.
  • Ensure all sub-contractors carry out their construction work in compliance with the Drawings and Specification.
  • Maintain a professional and cooperative relationship with all internal and external stakeholders through agreed GT PR procedures and the PR Co-ordinator.
About You
  • Qualification in a recognised Building Services subject to HNC / Degree Level.
  • Previous experience of working with a Main Contractor in a Building Services Role would be an advantage.
  • Full working knowledge of aspects and law, including The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and CDM 2015.
  • Basic subcontract processes – contract and commercial.
  • Basic appreciation and use knowledge of project management – programming, cash flow analysis, resource planning etc.
