Emerging Technology Business Analyst (Tech Governance)

Location: UK (remote with occasional travel)

An international financial and professional services organisation is seeking an Emerging Technology Business Analyst to support its Technology Governance Forum. The role focuses on structured discovery, requirements analysis and early‑stage evaluation of new or emerging technologies. The position ensures proposals are assessed consistently, risks are understood up front, and recommendations are clear, evidence‑based and governance‑ready.

• Act as the primary contact for new technology requests, including vendor tools, pilots and upgrades.
• Conduct early discovery to clarify problem statements, scope, users, data and expected value.
• Apply triage criteria to determine strategic fit, risk level and governance pathway.
• Maintain the intake backlog with accurate status, ownership and next steps.

• Elicit and document business, functional and non‑functional requirements through workshops, interviews and process walk‑throughs.
• Produce high‑quality artefacts: BRDs/FRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, NFR checklists and use‑case catalogues.

• Prepare governance materials including options analysis, risks, controls, recommendations and decision logs.
• Coordinate inputs from Business, IT, Info Sec, Risk, Compliance, Data Protection, Legal and Architecture.
• Ensure governance decisions are documented with a robust audit trail.

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst in technology transformation, tool assessment or governance environments.
• Comfortable with both business process analysis and technical concepts such as APIs, integrations, identity/access, cloud and data flows.
• Understanding of governance and risk frameworks (third‑party risk, privacy, security controls).
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous topics.
• Experience supporting tech governance boards or steering committees.
• Exposure to emerging technologies such as GenAI/Copilot, automation/RPA, workflow, document management or analytics platforms.
• Experience in a regulated environment, ideally financial services.
