We are seeking a compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated Support Worker to join our team caring for Steven, a wonderful 6-year-old boy with autism, intellectual disability, and Pica. Based in Cumbernauld, Scotland, this role requires a kind-hearted individual who is registered with the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme.
About the Role- Support Steven by providing daily care and tailored support that meets his individual needs, ensuring his safety and well-being at all times.
- Safety First:
Ability to wear a harness as part of safety protocols to support Steven during outings or activities. - Fit and Flexible:
Must be physically fit to engage in activities and ensure Steven’s safety. - Compassionate Care:
Demonstrate empathy, patience, and understanding in all interactions, promoting a nurturing environment. - Collaboration:
Work closely with family members, therapists, and other professionals to deliver holistic support. - Positive Approach:
Encourage Steven’s development, independence, and engagement in meaningful activities.
- PVG Scheme Membership:
Protecting Vulnerable Groups registration is mandatory. - Experience with Autism and Intellectual Disability:
Previous experience working with children with autism and intellectual disabilities is highly desirable. - Pica Awareness:
Understanding of Pica and strategies for safe management. - Physical Fitness:
Capable of wearing a harness and actively supporting Steven’s activities. - Communication
Skills:
Excellent communication skills with Steven, his family, and professionals. - Empathy and Compassion: A warm, caring approach central to all interactions.

This is a permanent contract for 5.5 hours per week.
The hourly rate of pay is £12.60 per hour.
Typical days and times:
Saturday or Sunday, with days and times flexible to suit – to be discussed at interview
