Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care (FdA) Part-Time
Our Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care gives students the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skillsand practical experience within the health, social care and mental health settings, while incorporating simulated learning within our designated hospitalsimulation, anatomageand counselling rooms.
Throughout the part-time 3 year course you will undertaketwopractice placement modules that will allow you to apply your skills and knowledge in the area of practice that interests you within the health andsocial care sector the health where you will develop an insight into the industry for your future career.
Entry RequirementsUCAS: 72 points at A2 BTEC Extended Diploma: MMP BTECDiploma: DM Pass Access Course: 72 UCAS points T level: P (C+) IELTS: 6.0 withno Component lower than 5.5 GCSEs: 5 at grade C/4 including maths and Englishor equivalent. This course will involve you working with venerable groups of individuals, including children. In order to ensure that we offer places on theprogramme to suitable candidates you will be required to obtain a satisfactory
Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance. Once you have applied forthe course, you will be invited in to attend a formal interview.

Health and Social Care tutors promote the transfer of learning between academic theory and work based learning. Teaching and learningmethods are varied including individual study, lectures, group activities,speakers and on line learning. Work-based learning is integral to the courseaims, enabling the evaluation of skills and knowledge in practice. Assessmentmethods are varied and include presentations, essays, workbooks, portfolio and reflective accounts.
By successfully completing Year 1 (Level 4 ) of thisprogramme, you can then progress on to year 2 (Level
5) of the course at Burnley College or you will have the option to apply for the BSc (Hons)
Pre-registration Nursing, BSc (Hons) Midwifery, BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy andBSc (Hons) Operating Department Practice with the University of Central Lancashire. Successful completion of the two-year programme at Burnley Collegewill allow you to gain access to the third year of the BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care and the BA (Hons) Applied Community & Social Care Studies.
