Summary

In collaboration with the classroom team, is responsible for assisting the Special Education Teacher with the implementation of effective academic and social-emotional programming for assigned students. Responsibilities
  • Consistently applies the corporate values of respect, honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer‑friendly, geographically‑accessible and high‑value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system.
  • In collaboration with the classroom team, assists in the formulation of social‑emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs.
  • In collaboration with the classroom team, implements social‑emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs.
  • Assists students with activities of daily life such as toileting and other forms of self‑care.
  • Collects and manages data on social‑emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
  • Prepares and presents verbal and/or written reports concerning social‑emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
  • Assists in implementation of the academic and social‑emotional curricula as directed by the classroom teacher and team leader.
  • Provides academic support to students as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Prepares and submits required paperwork for the student record.
  • Attends and participates in classroom team meetings and other student‑related meetings as assigned.
  • Attends and participates in supervisory sessions, staff meetings or other meetings as assigned.
  • Observes all Bradley Schools policies, rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as required, assigned, or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Baccalaureate Degree preferred with a major in education or related human service fields.
  • Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel.
  • Bradley Hospital Safety Care Certification.
  • Experience:

    Prior experience working with children is helpful.
  • Performs independently within department policies and practices.
  • Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
  • Utilizes de‑escalation techniques taught by LSS to minimize need for physical intervention.
  • Remains calm during a crisis situation as evidenced by the ability to make quick rational decisions and prioritize immediate student care needs to maintain a therapeutic environment and ensure safety.
  • Participates in the physical management of students, including safe body positioning, blocking aggression, and physically holding students as approved.
  • Can lift up to fifty pounds; reach, grasp, hold, bend, squat, kneel without limitation; physically escort students for short distances.
  • Position requires occasional running for short distances, frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
Pay Range

$19.03‑$31.39 per day.
