In collaboration with the classroom team, is responsible for assisting the Special Education Teacher with the implementation of effective academic and social-emotional programming for assigned students. - In collaboration with the classroom team, assists in the formulation of social‑emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs.
- In collaboration with the classroom team, implements social‑emotional and behavioral programming consistent with students’ IEPs.
- Assists students with activities of daily life such as toileting and other forms of self‑care.
- Collects and manages data on social‑emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
- Prepares and presents verbal and/or written reports concerning social‑emotional and behavioral functioning for assigned students.
- Assists in implementation of the academic and social‑emotional curricula as directed by the classroom teacher and team leader.
- Provides academic support to students as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Prepares and submits required paperwork for the student record.
- Attends and participates in classroom team meetings and other student‑related meetings as assigned.
- Attends and participates in supervisory sessions, staff meetings or other meetings as assigned.
- Observes all Bradley Schools policies, rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as required, assigned, or directed.
- Education:
Baccalaureate Degree preferred with a major in education or related human service fields. - Basic knowledge of data entry/management programs such as Excel.
- Bradley Hospital Safety Care Certification.
- Experience:
Prior experience working with children is helpful. - Performs independently within department policies and practices.
- Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
- Utilizes de‑escalation techniques taught by LSS to minimize need for physical intervention.
- Remains calm during a crisis situation as evidenced by the ability to make quick rational decisions and prioritize immediate student care needs to maintain a therapeutic environment and ensure safety.
- Participates in the physical management of students, including safe body positioning, blocking aggression, and physically holding students as approved.
- Can lift up to fifty pounds; reach, grasp, hold, bend, squat, kneel without limitation; physically escort students for short distances.
- Position requires occasional running for short distances, frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
$19.03‑$31.39 per day.
