Substation Design Engineer

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consulting firm offering engineering, system planning, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience covers system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.

• Conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization.

• Development and delivery of physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications.

• Coordination, quality control and oversight of designers, drafters and support staff under the guidance of a project engineer.

• Collaboration with ECI subject‑matter‑expert groups (Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection, Civil Engineering, Communication, Transmission & Distribution Engineering).

• Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of design engineering experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Commitment to quality and accuracy
• Willingness to meet fast‑paced project schedules
• Fundamental knowledge of power engineering principles and applicable codes and standards
• Commitment toward PE licensure encouraged
