General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store and for general operations and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly and efficient environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation and a clean work area, and executing and supervising company operational processes.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Practice safe behaviors and maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor
- Secure the building, control entrance/exit, manage electronic article surveillance, and oversee cash office security
- Remove clutter and keep emergency egress clear
- Ensure customer safety by preventing accidents, reporting incidents, and executing emergency procedures
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to after‑hours alarms as requested
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times and recognize associates using company programs
- Represent and support the company brand at all times
- Maintain a professional appearance and enforce the company dress code on all associates
- Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard and handle daily trash removal
- Teach, assign tasks, and follow up to ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards
- Receive merchandise trucks when needed and process all merchandise with urgency
- Handle non‑merchandise inbound deliveries and maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms
- Assist with merchandising of departments and back‑stock, reduce loss due to damage, and ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines
- Execute floor moves, promotional signings, and necessary re‑wraps
- Follow the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a customer service presence on the sales floor
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise while demonstrating integrity and honesty
- Maintain the Public View Monitor system, conduct package inspections, and execute company best practices to maximize productivity
- Maximize productivity by minimizing steps and extra touches and ensure associates meet company standards at the front end
- Control front‑end pace, energy, and presence; manage the line to expedite customer wait times
- Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front‑end procedures to meet friendly and productivity standards
- Manage associate break schedules and ensure all equipment works and supplies are maintained
- Teach the “Scan and Bag” best practice and ensure salability of merchandise on the front end
- Maintain and clean fitting rooms and audit all garment tags to company policy
- Ensure go‑back compliance; all returned merchandise must be ticketed, scanned, and security tagged as needed
- Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits per company policy
- Handle front‑end control, refund approval, associate purchase approval, cash handling, and payroll administration responsibilities
