Veterinary Technician – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Location:
Culver City, CA

The ICU provides organized, high-level close monitoring and care for critical patients, including those at risk of acute decompensation. The ICU is open to all services, so patients come from multiple departments. We are hiring exceptional Veterinary Technicians to join our ICU nursing team, focusing on caring for the sickest patients, attention to detail, and advancing critical care nursing skills. ICU nurses and doctors work closely as a team, with nurses taking increased responsibility in patient recovery.
Note:
The listed ICU-specific skills and procedures are to be achieved in the ICU setting and will be taught over time. An affinity for organization and maintaining a clean work environment is important.
- Nasogastric tube placement
- Urinary catheter placement (male and female)
- Central line placement
- Single and double lumen PICC lines
- Triple lumen jugular catheters
- Arterial puncture for arterial blood gas analysis
- Arterial catheter placement
- Care of an arterial catheter
- Thoracic auscultation
- Perfusion analysis of patients
- Basic electrolyte and blood gas analysis
- CPR
- Nursing care of patients on a mechanical ventilator
- Nursing care of patients with tracheostomies
- Nursing care of patients with chest tubes and abdominal drains
- Nursing care of patients with feeding tubes and administering nutrition through a feeding tube
- Calculating CRIs (analgesics, inotropes, vasopressors, electrolytes, etc)
Located in Culver City, ACCESS LA is a referral hospital with 24-hour Emergency services. Technicians encounter a variety of cases and work with qualified doctors. With numerous specialty departments, a tech’s day may include diverse experiences in a high-paced animal hospital.

Experience & Skills Requirements- RVT preferred
- 3 years veterinary assisting / technician experience
- Desire to offer superior patient care
- Positive work attitude
- Flexible schedule
- Overnight / Weekend Differential = $3 - $5 per hour in addition to base pay

Shifts available:
Swing and Overnight
- Non-Credentialed Assistants: $21/hr - $36/hr
- Licensed Technicians: $26/hr - $42/hr
- VTS: $43/hr - $45/hr
- Pay to be determined by skills assessment
