ACCESS Los Angeles is seeking a Soft Tissue Supervisor to join our growing team!
The Soft Tissue Technician Supervisor serves as the key point of contact for the Soft Tissue Department, ensuring seamless daily operations and exceptional patient care. This hands‑on role is based on the clinical floor and is responsible for addressing technical inquiries, resolving operational issues, and supporting the Department Manager by leading the technical team.
The ideal candidate for Soft Tissue Technician Supervisor will mentor technical staff, coordinate with doctors to optimize workflow, and make sure the department is well‑equipped and organized. The Supervisor will coordinate training opportunities, collaborate with team to maintain accurate inventory of medications and supplies, and oversee the use/maintenance of specialised equipment such as laparoscopy items, vessel sealing devices, anaesthetic machines, sterilisation equipment, CO₂ laser, etc.
This role demands a confident and collaborative leader with exceptional communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of soft‑tissue procedures, anaesthesia, and veterinary protocols. The ideal candidate consistently models professionalism through adherence to the organisation's policies and procedures, including the handbook, a respectful and approachable demeanour, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high‑pressure clinical environments.
ResponsibilitiesLeading with Your Head
- Understanding business, solving problems, and making decisions through inclusive contributions of others.
- Being on the clinical floor within the department to act as a liaison between the team and Department Manager by promptly reporting any patient or doctor‑related concerns to ensure a timely resolution.
- Assign daily responsibilities and case support based on doctor rounds and departmental needs.
- Reassign technical staff during slower periods or when doctors are unavailable to maintain productivity.
- Ensure team is providing daily cleaning to maintain treatment area and equipment to hygienic standards.
Leading with Your Heart
- Interpersonal aspect of leading with Emotional Intelligence (EQ), effective use of influence, working together constructively and creatively.
- Inspire the department’s technical staff to ensure high‑quality performance and efficient workflow aligned with departmental and hospital‑wide goals.
- Participate in weekly meetings with the Department Manager to review and strategise streamlining departmental performance and improving workplace culture.
- Maintain a receptive attitude towards feedback and an open mind to coaching intended to support your growth in leadership.
- Provide support to ACCESS to promote hospital‑wide success.
Leading with Your Hands
- Partner with the Department Manager to identify training needs and coordinate skill development opportunities for technical staff.
- Ensure team members are proficient in technical procedures relevant to Soft‑tissue surgery.
- Participate with onboarding of new team members.
- Provide a safe space to ask questions, encourage hands‑on learning, and train others without compromising patient care.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Strong focus on sterility and sterile practices when performing tasks.
- Ability to direct a team to promote efficiency and quality care.
- Willingness to respond positively to requests from staff and work effectively with others.
- Availability to support On‑Call/Emergency procedures.
- Ability to multi‑task and work on several different projects simultaneously.
- Self‑starter who is able to work with and without direct supervision.
- Ability to work a varying schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet hospital and team needs.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanour in a high‑stress environment.

- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a management or leadership role.
- Experience in speciality veterinary medicine is required.
