Financial Advisor – BMO U.S.

BMO’s Financial Advisor role provides financial and investment planning and advice in collaboration with other team members to deliver a comprehensive banking solution in the best interest of the customer. The role involves determining client needs and providing solutions through the sales of managed products and services such as mutual funds, ETF wrap accounts, insurance, annuities, retirement savings plans, and other similar products, with certain solutions also provided indirectly through referrals to business partners.

Responsibilities
  • Support the achievement of sales and performance targets for new asset sales, joint appointments, fee‑based sales, and financial planning.
  • Implement business development strategies to acquire new business (e.g., outbound calling campaigns, conducting seminars) and cultivate branch employee referrals.
  • Identify opportunities during customer conversations to generate referrals for personal and commercial banking products (e.g., personal banking, lending, and investments).
  • Implement a relationship management plan in collaboration with the lead relationship manager.
  • Develop solutions and make recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Provide advice and guidance to assigned business/group on the implementation of solutions.
  • Support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in determining business priorities and the best sequence for executing the business/group strategy.
  • Conduct independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues.
  • Coordinate and execute specific activities for the implementation of strategic initiatives, including tracking metrics and milestones.
  • Manage databases and provide support for analysis, forecasting, and/or data visualization, ensuring adherence with data governance standards.
  • Break down strategic problems, analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor and track performance and address any issues.
  • Design and produce regular and ad‑hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Build change‑management plans of varying scope and type; lead or participate in a variety of change‑management activities including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in defining the communication plan designed to positively influence or change behaviour; develop tailored messaging; and identify appropriate distribution channels.
  • Provide input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Execute work to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Identify business needs, design and develop tools and training programs; may include delivery of training to audiences.
  • Employ systems (e.g., customized exception reports, tracking reports, etc.) to manage information.
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis, and/or streamlined reporting.
  • Support the development and promotion of a business/group program.
  • Work collaboratively and in partnership with members of the client‑relationship team to apply a consultative sales process and continually enhance the client experience.
  • Introduce clients to investment strategies and work with clients to develop a financial plan utilizing appropriate guidance tools.
  • Communicate effectively with sales management and sales force to keep them informed of product developments and initiatives.
  • Coach and advise others on the team by conducting joint appointments and sharing product knowledge and sales tips.
  • Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholders.
  • Follow through on the risk and compliance processes and policies to ensure we safeguard our customers’ assets, maintain their privacy, act in their best interests, and ensure an effectively run function.
  • Protect the Bank's assets and comply with all regulatory, legal, and ethical requirements.
