Assists in the provision of patient care, therapy support, departmental maintenance, and administrative duties as directed by PT, PTA, OTR/L, COTA, SLP in a therapeutic manner which acts to promote the patient’s functional ability and lead to improved quality of life. The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job:

• Assist PT/OT/SLP staff in patient treatment under direct supervision of licensed team member.
• Prepare and maintain department treatment rooms and equipment for patient use.
• Assist with clerical duties for the department.
• Monitor inventory (including DME as applicable).
• Assist with departmental safety and quality control monitoring.
• Teach basic rehab technician duties to students and volunteers.

The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned.

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: No experience necessary. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.

Physical Demand Code:
Medium to Heavy. The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For weight over 35 lbs, use Safe Handling Equipment. This description may be amended at any time at the sole discretion of UVA Community Health.

• May require the use of safety equipment, such as HEPA mask, for infection prevention.
• On call responsibilities as directed.
• Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out of town as needed.
