Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred but not required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and supplies and their safe usage.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in custodial or facility maintenance practices.
- Experience operating industrial cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards related to custodial work.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays if required.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal in assigned areas.
- Sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and other common areas to maintain hygiene and prevent the spread of germs.
- Operate and maintain custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and carpet cleaners safely and effectively.
- Restock supplies such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper to ensure availability for building occupants.
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or security concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly.
- Follow established safety protocols and use personal protective equipment to minimize risks during cleaning operations.
- Assist with setup and cleanup for special events or meetings as needed.
Skills:
The Custodial Support Specialist uses their knowledge of cleaning techniques and chemical handling daily to ensure all areas are hygienic and safe. Physical stamina and attention to detail are essential for performing thorough cleaning and maintenance tasks efficiently. Communication skills enable the specialist to report issues clearly and coordinate with team members to address facility needs.
