Core Responsibilities
  • Inspect forklift for safety and cleanliness.
  • Clean forklift extensions and forklift as necessary.
  • Remove loaded racks, trucks, etc. from the stuffing table and load into the smokehouse with forklift, maintaining proper spacing at all levels.
  • Unload product from the smokehouse and load into the dry room, allowing proper spacing to all levels.
  • Unload dry rooms and deliver to trucks.
  • Put forklift on charge in proper charging areas as required.
  • Keep work areas clean and orderly.
  • Follow job rotation when hanging meat in trucks as required.
  • Fill out and sign proper record‑keeping paperwork.
  • Load trucks with salami from smokehouse or temporary dry‑room storage.
  • Wash work area coolers and floors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the crew leader and supervisor.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • The majority of the time is spent in the plant environment and will include wet or humid conditions, extreme cold and heat, working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals.
  • Noise level is loud in the production area and hearing protection is always required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs.
Safety Equipment/Training Requirements
  • Bump cap, hair/beardnet, eye protection/goggles, hand protection, hearing protection, and safety shoes.
Mandatory Training / Competency To Be Earned
  • Proper lifting, forklift, elevator, harness, and PPE.
