Police Officer

Police Officers enforce the law, maintain public safety, and uphold community peace.

Use independent judgment while following department orders; treat all individuals with respect and protect their constitutional rights.

• Comply with all department rules, regulations, and orders.
• Maintain attendance and readiness; wear uniform and equipment.
• Keep property, equipment, and apparatus clean and operational.
• Enforce state and local traffic and criminal laws; apprehend offenders.
• Respond to calls, investigate incidents, and prepare reports.
• Patrol by vehicle, foot, or other means to deter crime.
• Process, package, and preserve evidence.
• Testify in courts and serve court documents.
• Conduct community education and crowd control.
• Use and maintain firearms, handcuffs, and other equipment.
• Other duties as assigned by the shift commander.

• Citizen of the United States.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; minimum 60 college‑level credits preferred.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license; otherwise obtain within 30 days.
• Good physical fitness; ability to lift >100 lbs and operate vehicle.
• Background check, medical exam, drug test, and psychological assessment required.
• Previous law‑enforcement experience is helpful but not required.
