Workweek: 40 hours, typically 8:00 am–4:30 pm Monday to Friday (may require day, evening, weekend hours)
The Lab Coordinator facilitates the use of Manufacturing and Advanced Technology classrooms and labs by maintaining tools, equipment and vehicles; identifies vendors, obtains quotes, and manages supply inventories following college purchasing policies.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities- Oversee general maintenance and instructional setup for all lab and classroom spaces.
- Catalog and maintain equipment in college software, track maintenance schedules, and document operating instructions.
- Build training aids to support instruction.
- Identify and order supplies, materials, equipment and services; maintain inventory and a check‑out system.
- Conduct diagnostics, maintenance and repair on tools and equipment as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain safety manuals and material safety data sheets for lab spaces.
- Process purchase orders, obtain I‑9 forms, verify accuracy, distribute to faculty and report completion.
- Prepare labs for instructional dates and coordinate with faculty on maintenance and repairs.
- Assist faculty in lab instruction setup and special events, and supervise open labs for students.
- Train and oversee student employees in safe lab practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues, vendors and stakeholders to fulfill responsibilities.
- Assume additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in a CTE program or related field, or equivalent experience.
- OSHA certified forklift training within 60 days of start date.
- Minimum one year of work experience in a lab environment.
- Basic work with word processing, spreadsheets and other computer functions.
- Ability to learn and use equipment and maintenance software.
- Strong organization, task prioritization and multitasking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Willingness to keep up with evolving technology.
- Troubleshoot routine equipment problems; self‑starter, independent worker.
- Safe lifting of 50 pounds unassisted.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license.
