We’re looking for a reliable and caring Cleaner / Cleaning Operative / Domestic Assistant to help maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across a residential care setting. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone who takes pride in creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents.

SALARY: £13 per Hour
LOCATION: Work across various sites in (Lewisham, Croydon, Lambeth, and Southwark)
JOB TYPE: Full‑Time, Permanent
JOB OVERVIEWWe have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Cleaner / Cleaning Operative / Domestic Assistant to join the housekeeping and facilities team. As a Cleaner / Cleaning Operative / Domestic Assistant you will play a vital role in ensuring that residents’ rooms, communal areas, bathrooms, and office spaces are always clean, tidy, and well‑maintained. The Cleaner / Cleaning Operative / Domestic Assistant will also help ensure the highest standards of infection control and hygiene are followed, supporting the comfort, health, and dignity of every resident.
You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a consistent, high‑quality service within the home.
- Maintain Clean Environments:
Ensure all resident rooms, communal areas, bathrooms, and offices are cleaned to a high standard - Follow Cleaning Rotas:
Work as part of a rota system to maintain consistent cleanliness throughout the unit - Laundry Care:
Wash, dry, and change bed linen as scheduled or when required - Stock Management:
Keep bathrooms and communal areas stocked with essential supplies such as soap and toilet paper - Health & Safety:
Handle cleaning agents safely and follow all Health and Safety procedures - Equipment Reporting:
Report any equipment faults or maintenance issues to the management team promptly - Infection Control:
Follow cleaning protocols to prevent the spread of infection and maintain hygiene standards - Team Support:
Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a supportive and respectful working environment - Resident Care:
Treat residents with dignity, respect, and kindness at all times - Safeguarding Awareness:
Report any concerns regarding residents’ welfare in line with safeguarding procedures
- Cleaning
Experience:
Proven experience in a cleaning, housekeeping, or domestic role, ideally within a care or healthcare environment - Attention To Detail: A high standard of cleanliness and attention to hygiene and presentation
- Teamwork:
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow set schedules or rotas - Communication
Skills:
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage respectfully with residents and colleagues - Health & Safety Knowledge:
Awareness of COSHH, infection control, and safe handling of cleaning materials - Reliability:
Punctual, dependable, and able to work to a consistent standard
This role requires a DBS check
