SEND Teaching Assistant – South Croydon

Contract:

Long-term with the view to go permanent

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 3:30pm (paid for full 6.5 hours)
Pay: £13.68 per hour

A specialist SEND school in South Croydon is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026. This is a rewarding long-term opportunity with the potential to become a permanent position.

You will be working closely with children who have Autism and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), supporting their learning, communication and personal development in a safe, structured and nurturing environment.

The Role

* Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis

* Assisting with classroom activities, sensory sessions and daily routines

* Providing personal care where required, including toileting and hygiene

* Promoting independence, communication and positive behaviour

* Working alongside teachers, therapists and other support staff

The Ideal Candidate

* Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly Autism and/or PMLD

* Is comfortable and confident providing personal care

* Is patient, resilient and caring

* Has a genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs

* Can commit to the role Monday to Friday on a long-term basis
