Lead Locate Technician – Grid Hawk LLC

The Lead Locate Technician leads a team of utility locating technicians, ensuring accurate and compliant identification of underground utilities while adhering to company policies and safety regulations. Responsibilities include locating telephone, electric, cable, gas, fiber optic, water, and sewer lines, marking and documenting sites, coordinating workflows, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Lead a team of technicians, overseeing daily scheduling and task allocation.
• Accurately locate and verify underground facilities using hand-held transmitters and other field equipment.
• Prepare, review, and file documentation, ensuring consistency with client regulations.
• Route tickets and plan daily production targets to optimize efficiency.
• Audit documents and enforce quality assurance; address and resolve client‑related issues.
• Maintain accurate timesheets and ensure team accountability.
• Interpret job orders, blueprints, and maps to route and perform tasks.
• Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime, and holiday hours.
• Communicate effectively with management, contractors, and utilities to prevent damage.
• Work across varied terrain and weather conditions, staying attentive and safe at all times.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Multiple years of utility locating experience with a documented excellent quality ratio.
• Proficiency with various utility locating equipment and techniques.
• Strong problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to read, interpret, and decipher prints and maps.
• Experience with vacuum truck operations (A+).
• Physical capability to lift over 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Successful completion of a background check (no violations in the past 3 years).
• Successful completion of a DOT drug test.
