Balemaster is seeking to hire an experienced Horizontal Band Saw Operator cutting various metal parts for their facility located in Crown Point, Indiana. The Saw Operator is responsible for the safe, effective and efficient operation of our sawing machines in an industrial manufacturing/production environment. The successful candidate will set up, maintain, and operate saws to cut a variety of metal materials to specification.

They will read tape measures, interpret technical drawings, select the correct blades, and adjust machine settings to ensure accurate and safe operations. The Saw Operator will also be responsible for upkeep of equipment and safe storage/disposal of scrap material. Attention to detail and an excellent safety record are essential.

• Set up and operate a variety of saws to cut metal and other materials.
• Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
• File, grind and smooth rough edges and surfaces.
• Read blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications and tooling instructions.
• Select and install saw blades and other attachments according to specifications.
• Maintain saws, checking and replacing worn blades, drive belts and other parts.
• Keep records of daily production.
• Examine finished work pieces for defects.
• Operate other machinery within the facility, such as grinders, as required.
• Inspect finished products for accuracy and quality, troubleshoot and resolve issues.

• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of safety requirements.
• Experience in operating saw machinery.
• Must be able to run an overhead crane.
• Must be able to drive a fork-truck.

• At least 12 to 24 months of related experience preferred.

• Must be able to lift heavy metal materials at times.
• Must be able to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders on occasion.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
