JobPurpose and Summary
Within our Retail locations, our Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. Technicians assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately, and patients receive caring service that exceeds expectations.
Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Execute pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Provide empathetic patient experiences by offering immunizations, other services and resolving or escalating patient problems.
- Perform basic inventory activities such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc.
- Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and actively seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, including voluntary travel to stores in the market as required.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles, and adhere to CVS policies for patient safety and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and staffing off‑site clinics) where allowed by law and supported by training.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer advanced questions to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
- Review, collect, and document patient information for each vaccine administered.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Attention and Focus:
- Concentrate on tasks over time.
- Pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs.
- Confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Customer Service and Team Orientation:
- Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner.
- Understand and respond appropriately to patient reactions.
- Communication
Skills:- Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
- Practice active listening, asking questions, and avoiding inappropriate interruptions.
- Mathematical Reasoning:
- Use math to solve problems such as determining tablet totals, day’s supply, and full bottle quantities.
- Problem Resolution:
- Identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action among options.
- Physical Demands:
- Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods.
- Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead and stretch.
- Move fingers repetitively for typing or other tasks.
- Lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, and minimal force movements.
- Communicate verbally and listen for detailed information.
- Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
