Position: Cash Posting Specialist

MGM Healthcare provides rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, assisted living, and independent living centers in Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma. Our centers provide on-site therapy and rehabilitation services - using the latest equipment and techniques - that run the gamut from physical and occupational therapy to special memory units and respite care. Our corporate office is located in St. Louis, Missouri. This position would support all MGM facilities.

Overview

The Cash Posting Specialist is responsible for accurately posting and reconciling private pay and miscellaneous cash receipts across multiple centers. This role supports the organization’s revenue cycle by ensuring payments from various sources—including electronic remittances, ACH, checks, and credit cards—are applied correctly and timely. The position works closely with business office staff, treasury, and billing teams to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cash Posting & Payment Processing
    • Post private pay and miscellaneous cash receipts for multiple facilities using the organization’s billing and accounting systems.
    • Review and post payments received via ACH, checks, credit cards, and third-party vendors (e.g., Inovalon or similar platforms).
    • Process both automated and manual cash batches, ensuring payments are applied to the correct resident accounts and dates.
    • Review deposit documentation for accuracy, completeness, and proper allocation prior to posting.
    • Follow up with facility or business office staff when posting instructions or documentation are unclear.
  • Reconciliation & Treasury Support
    • Maintain deposit logs to track posted and unposted payments.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies, missing deposits, or posting variances in collaboration with treasury and facility teams.
    • Assist with bank statement and deposit log reconciliation on a monthly basis.
    • Support month-end close activities related to cash posting and treasury reconciliation.
  • Returned Payments & Adjustments
    • Process returned checks and ACH transactions, including posting reversals and applicable fees in accordance with company policy.
    • Ensure proper documentation and communication for all returned or adjusted payments.
  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Maintain organized electronic records of deposits, receipts, and posting support documentation.
    • Follow established internal controls, policies, and procedures related to cash handling and posting.
    • Contribute to process improvement efforts by identifying opportunities for increased efficiency or accuracy.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the revenue cycle and finance teams.
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in cash posting, accounts receivable, or healthcare revenue cycle strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with multi-facility or centralized billing environments is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high volumes of transactions accurately.
  • Proficiency with billing systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
