Description
You will be an Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) (Aircraft Mechanic II) for our Special Operations Forces Global Logistic Support Services (SOF GLSS) team, based in Crestview, FL. Our team is responsible for modifying military aircraft and ground vehicles to meet the evolving operational needs of the SOF community. The AGSE Aircraft Mechanic II is responsible for performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Aircraft Ground Support Equipment (AGSE).
WhatYou Will Be Doing
- Inspect, test, and operate AGSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications.
- Remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and reinstall AGSE accessories and components.
- Provide dispatch service for AGSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flight operations.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, disassembling, repairing, cleaning, and reassembling AGSE components.
- Execute proof/load test operations on hydraulic jacks, forklifts, cranes, man lifts, lifting slings, cradles, shackles, and other associated lifting equipment.
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, AC, and mechanical systems using manufacturers manuals, drawings, specifications, installation layouts, sketches, verbal or written instructions, and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters.
- Inspect equipment to ensure it meets safety standards and handle hazardous materials/waste according to environmental regulations.
- Position and operate flight line equipment to support aircraft, including towing, powering, and cooling.
- Maintain maintenance records and monitor equipment trends using forms and other documentation methods.
This position supports our Special Operations Forces – Global Logistics Support Services contract, the U.S. Special Operations Command's (USSOCOM) largest service contract vehicle providing a wide range of tailored logistics, maintenance, and sustainment services.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access and is in direct support of a U.S. government contract that requires a company-sponsored clearance to start.
Security Clearance:
Secret. Candidates must be able to obtain a secret security clearance and must have an interim secret clearance prior to start.
- Minimum five (5) years experience as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Technician/Mechanic.
- Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, air conditioning systems, and electrical circuits.
- Proficiency with hand tools and electronic diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair complex equipment failures.
- Work Environment: AGE specialists typically will be operating in both hangar/shop environments and directly on flight lines to support all LM operations.
- Ability to obtain a secret security clearance, and must have an interim secret clearance prior to start so therefore all candidates must be a US Citizen.
- Perform periodic and annual inspections and maintenance of equipment.
- Prepare required records and reports on all assigned equipment, identify and order parts required, and provide assistance in training employees in areas of specialties.
- Experience with hydraulic carts and oil carts.
- Work safely in a team environment.
- Work in varied, often outdoor, environments.
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility. Schedules range from a standard 40 hours over a five-day work week while others may be condensed. The condensed schedule for this position is 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
