Accounting Manager, Cost Accountant
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant specializing in project cost and revenue accounting under ASC 606 to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing complex project-based accounting within aerospace or manufacturing industries, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Crestview Aerospace OverviewCrestview Aerospace is a manufacturing organization working closely with large aircraft and weapon systems OEMs, such as Boeing Defense, Bell, RTX/Collins Aerospace, Northrop Grumman and several others to deliver complex design-to-build and build-to print assemblies. Crestview Aerospace provides these assemblies in support of in-service platforms, such as: H-47, V-22, F-35, F-15, F-16, F-18, KC-135, E-2, and weapon systems such as Harpoon and SLAM-ER.
Crestview Aerospace is comprised of two (2) manufacturing sites, with operations in St. Louis, Missouri and Crestview, FL, and employs approximately 300 professionals.
- Manage and oversee all aspects of project cost and revenue accounting including cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for aerospace and manufacturing projects.
- Lead the revenue recognition process in accordance with ASC 606 or relevant accounting frameworks, ensuring timely and accurate recognition of revenue from long-term contracts and manufacturing orders.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineering, procurement, and sales teams to gather and validate financial data related to ongoing projects.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and dashboards reflecting project profitability, costs, and revenue status.
- Monitor and reconcile project-related accounts, including work-in-progress (WIP), deferred revenue, and contract assets/liabilities.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
- Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate project and revenue accounting entries.
- Identify opportunities to improve project accounting processes and revenue management systems.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and provide technical guidance on project accounting matters.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on project accounting and revenue management in aerospace, manufacturing, or related industries.
- In-depth knowledge of ASC 606 and other revenue recognition standards.
- Proven experience with ERP and EPM systems commonly used in aerospace/manufacturing (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor, One Stream).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Primarily works in an office environment within a manufacturing setting.
- Requires extensive use of computers and accounting systems to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and support financial operations.
- Occasional interaction with the manufacturing floor may be required for inventory audits or operational support.
- May require occasional extended hours during peak periods such as month-end close, year-end close, audits, and budget cycles.

Physical RequirementsPrimarily manufacturing/assembly environment. Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current. Must be able to bend and reach. Must have close visual acuity such as viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines, and/or assembly or fabrication parts at close distance to the eyes.
Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to maneuver up to 20 pounds. Will be performing substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
