Compost Facility Operator – Creston

Reporting to the Resource Recovery Mechanical Operations & Site Supervisor, or designate, the Compost Facility Operator – Creston, is responsible for safe and efficient operations of the Creston Composting Facility, and other RDCK Resource Recovery Facilities.

The Composting Facility Operator – Creston is required to operate machinery and perform general maintenance where required. This position requires occasional travel to other RDCK facilities.

• Grade 12 Education or equivalent (GED);
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License w/air brake endorsement. Class 1 or 3 License considered an asset;
• Ability to operate a front-end loader and other equipment in a competent and safe manner;
• Ability to lift 18 kilograms and carry for 5 meters;
• Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions;
• Ability to remain standing for up to 3 hours at one time;
• Satisfactory Criminal Record.

• General knowledge of small equipment operation and maintenance;
• Ability to work independently;
• Ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public;
• General knowledge of landfill and waste transfer station operations considered an asset;
• Ability to deal effectively with other staff;
• Ability to prioritize work tasks.

This is a part time permanent position of 25+ hours per week and benefitted. Travel to other facilities will be paid.

The normal starting hourly rate for this position is $29.74 with a range from $28.45 to $32.32 based on experience.
