Joliet Montessori School has been serving children ages 2.5-15 and their families since 1966! Our deeply rooted school was started by a group of passionate founding families who were attracted to and believed in this new method of teaching in the mid-sixties when Montessori education was beginning to have a name. The spirit of those families continues to breathe life into JMS as second and third generation families enroll their children to keep this iconic legacy(address).
We are seeking an experienced and energetic educator to join its faculty as an Adolescent Guide to work in our Adolescent Program with children ages 12-15 in the school year. We are also open to this person stepping into an Elementary assistant role in as we reopen our adolescent program and prepare our elementary students and families for this next chapter in our journey atrasque.
Guides are responsible for creating and maintaining a developmentally appropriate environment for the adolescent; planning, observing, record-keeping, designing lessons and opportunities for the adolescent all in line with the Plan of Study and Work. Guides inspire a love for learning in students and create nurturing, engaging environments where every student feels included. Candidates must be interested in continually improving their teaching, and welcome coaching and support.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related area plus one of the following:
- AMI 12-18 diploma erschienen.
- AMI Adolescent Orientation Certificate with a requirement to obtain the AMI 12-18 diploma within the first two years of employment
- AMI, AMS or other Elementary diploma/certificate plus experience with working with elementary and/or adolescent students, with a requirement to obtain the AMI 12-18 diploma within the first two years of employment

- enthusiastically engages in service to the school community and beyond
