Blueleaf are looking for an experienced and proactive Transport Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day operation and compliance of our fleet.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all transport activities run efficiently, safely and in full compliance with relevant legislation. This is a key role within the business, requiring strong organisational skills and a hands‑on approach to fleet management. You will be required to work on site 40 hours per week, between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain Operator’s Licence undertakings and all fleet compliance requirements, ensuring accurate and organised record retention.
  • Manage the day‑to‑day tasks for a fleet of 30+ vehicles, ensuring optimal utilisation via TMS, telematics, fleet management and ePOD systems.
  • Manage driver routing software to balance efficiency and driver welfare in collaboration with internal teams to ensure ultimate efficiency and accuracy.
  • Embed a positive safety culture through safe practices, ensuring operations comply with government and HSE legislation whilst adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Cultivate excellent relationships with our maintenance providers and suppliers.
  • Lead, support and motivate the team to reach optimal performance through proactive leadership and engagement while promoting professionalism and accountability.
  • Cost control and advanced resource planning to ensure optimal service delivery and cost efficiency.
  • Partner and collaborate with operations management teams to drive continuous improvement.
  • Address conduct, capability, and performance issues promptly and effectively.
  • Deliver on KPIs set by the Head of Logistics and provide regular performance and financial updates.
  • Manage PCNs, fines and charges, toll management.
  • Conduct regular internal audits and prepare compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure drivers receive ongoing training (CPC, safety, and company standards) and maintain up‑to‑date qualifications.
  • Cost management of third‑party suppliers, including invoice auditing and thorough verification processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to contractual agreements.
  • Lead proactive change initiatives via projects, optimising program management for efficiency and impact.
Experience and Qualities
  • Valid Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in Road Transport.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience with digital fleet management.
  • Proven experience in transport management and logistics planning (minimum 3‑5 years).
  • Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in implementing and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions based on operational needs.
  • Strong and Confident Communicator – Able to lead and inspire large teams while maintaining clear, professional communication.
  • Regulatory Expertise – Comfortable navigating and ensuring compliance with all relevant transport and safety regulations.
  • Exceptional Organisational Skills – Skilled at prioritising tasks, managing resources, and delivering results under pressure.
  • Proactive Problem Solver – Demonstrates initiative in identifying challenges and implementing practical, efficient solutions.
  • Independent and Self‑Motivated – Capable of working autonomously while driving team performance and operational success.
