We’re energisers, one team of 21,000 colleagues energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, while igniting positive change in our communities. Bord Gáis Energy generates, sells and trades energy for use in the Republic of Ireland.

We’ve been in operation since 1976 and today we supply over 750,000 customers with energy in Ireland. In 2014 we became part of Centrica plc. We are a progressive company committed to ensuring that all activity benefits and serves our customers.

Have you recently received your craft certificate in Plumbing, Refrigeration or Electrical? Do you want to take the next step in your career? Why not earn while you learn? At Bord Gáis Energy we are recruiting for a number of key positions as Gas Service Engineers. We will upskill you to undertake gas boiler service and repair work, providing our customers with an excellent in-home customer experience.

You’ll also receive training in smart technologies, heat pumps, gas, oil, and other renewables on an ongoing basis.

On successful completion of your training, you will carry out a range of home product services in a safe and competent manner, including gas appliance and installation servicing and repairs, all in line with current regulations, industry best practice and Bord Gáis Energy’s technical operational procedures. The role will involve continuous opportunity to upskill and contribute to business plans and the execution of company strategy.

If you are a highly motivated individual committed to delivering a great customer experience and would like the chance to play a role in shaping the energy services market in Ireland, this could be the opportunity for you!

About the Role
  • Service, repair, and safety inspection of all domestic heating appliances
  • Service and repair of domestic central heating and hot water plumbing systems
  • First time diagnosis and repair of heating appliances and system faults
  • Upgrade and installation of central heating system controls with smart technologies
  • Carry out a range of electrical safety tests on domestic heating installations
  • Correctly locate, install, and verify CO alarms to current gas standards
  • Carry out a range of testing with Combustion Gas Analysers including room safety
  • Responsibility for all aspects of central heating installation and customer safety
  • Generate, organise, and maintain company and regulatory documentation
  • Participation in the Bord Gáis Energy wellbeing, diversity, inclusion, safety, and quality systems
  • Heating, electrical and refrigeration installation duties when required where qualifications apply

About You

  • You’ll have a National craft certificate in plumbing, electrical, or refrigeration (or equivalent as specified by the RGII recognised previous learning scheme)
  • A driven individual with excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Aptitude for fault finding logic would be an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and customer skills, with the ability to work with the general public and within a wider team with specific targets
  • A positive, safe attitude and approach to all work and training activities
  • RGII registered with 5 years experience
