Main duties of the job

To provide nursing support to the Practice Nurseand General Practitioners to ensure the efficient and effective provision care assistant services to the patients of the practice.

The preparation and efficiency of treatment roomsand treatment room equipment.

To maintain adequate clinical stock levels and medical stationery.

Job responsibilities
  • 1. To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction provided bythe Practice Nurse and General Practitioners.
  • 2. Assistanceat clinics ensuring patient care by chaperoning and assisting patients todress and undress.
  • 3. Conductweight and height measurements, test and record blood pressure and bloodsugar levels.
  • 4. Thetesting and result recording of clinical specimens.
  • 5. Provide assistance in minor operations ensuring patient care by chaperoning.
  • 6. Venepunctureand the taking and preparing of pathology samples.
  • 7. Undertake

    ECG, Spirometry and 24 hour BPtesting.
  • 8. Assist with the provision of health checks for newly registered patients, dementia, learning disabilities annual reviews and NHS Health checks.
  • 9. Ensure adequate stock and order accordingly in assigned areas
  • 10. Consultationfor first and ongoing smoking cessation, along with the submission of claimforms for payment.
  • 11. Toensure adequate clinical stock levels and medical stationery and maintain an effective stock management system, including Drs Bags
  • 12. Organise and conduct weight reduction clinics and offer individual support
  • 13. Thechecking and recording of medical supplies on receipt.
  • 14. Receivingtelephone messages in the treatment room, recording and transmittingaccordingly.
  • 15. Assistin baby development clinics by weighing measuring length and headcircumference
  • 16. Providetesting for Helicobacter breath tests
  • 17. Provide support for review appointments for example - Mental health and Dementia and the processing of the necessary forms BDI and MMS.
  • 18. Carryout vaccinations for B12, Influenza and Pneumonia as per PSD guidelines.
  • 19. Assist with the organisation and provision of Minor Surgery Clinics.
  • 20. Theinputting of information onto the Practice clinical system.
  • 21. Useof the Practice clinical system for patient searches for clinics and patientrecall.
  • 22. Ensureand order adequate amounts of Patient Information Leaflets
  • 23. Ensure adequate infection control procedures in treatment and consulting rooms.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • GCSE English and Maths
  • Expirance in working in a customer facing environment ideally a Health Care Setting
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Experience as a HCA
  • Understanding of Long Term Conditions
Experience
  • Experience of working in a health care enviorment
  • Experience of working in Primary care
