We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, ambitious and motivated individual, with a passion for inspiring students from September 2026. Do you want to join a successful and dynamic Science Department in a “flagship school”, where a love of Science is nurtured and where students make outstanding progress?

  • A strong interest in science subjects with good subject knowledge.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with young learners.
  • Willingness to develop teaching skills through training and professional development.
  • Basic classroom management skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively within a team environment.
Values and Attitudes
  • Commitment to promoting the values of respect, kindness, and integrity consistent with our Catholic ethos.
  • Patience, empathy, and understanding towards students’ diverse needs.
  • A positive attitude towards learning and continuous improvement.
  • Dedication to creating an inclusive classroom where every student feels valued.
  • Motivation to inspire young people both academically and personally.

This is a school that wants to be the very best it can be. Do you want to be part of that? This post would be ideal for an Early Career Teacher (ECT), and for anyone who wants to join a school where there may be future opportunities for progression. We really do value our teachers and actively support their professional development.

For ECTs, we offer an in-depth programme of support and training based on the Early Careers Framework. You do not need to be Catholic to work here, indeed many of our staff are not, but a willingness to embrace the ethos of our school is expected.

The strength of community here at St Wilfrid’s is a strong one based upon mutual respect. Our staff work incredibly hard and are prepared to go the extra mile. Our students are amazing and they contribute enormously to making the school such a welcoming and productive place. Our most recent Catholic School Inspection (2024) and our Ofsted Report (2023) certainly reinforce this aspect of school life.

All potential applicants are invited and encouraged to arrange a visit – we firmly believe you won’t be disappointed!

St Wilfrid's Catholic School reserves the right to review applications, interview and appoint before the close date so please make sure your applications are sent as soon as possible.

Please upload your application form along with a supporting statement (maximum of two pages).
