Position Summary
The Painter/Packer is responsible for painting manufactured products using spray painting equipment. They also pack, label and box finished products. They follow standard practices and procedures to ensure that painting and packing is performed in an efficient manner. They also maintain necessary tools and materials needed for painting and packing, keep their workspace clean and organized, and update work performed in the Enterprise Resource Planning system.

- Meet or exceed daily production requirements
- 100% accuracy on any inventory transactions and quality requirements
- 100% adherence to processes and material usage, no deviations
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Reviews job information in ERP system daily to determine orders to process.
- Maintains inventory of materials and supplies needed for painting products and packing the production orders.
- Selects appropriate paint color and connects spray gun to the pump.
- Regulates the width and pressure of paint spray by adjusting the sprayer valves and nozzle as needed.
- Directs spray onto the product surface using proper technique; may use brush for touch-ups as needed.
- Checks for quality of paint job upon completion.
- Maintains and cleans spraying equipment, flushes out lines, etc.
- Packages finished products and any necessary materials manually in accordance with Manufacturing Process Sheets (MPS) and Bills of Material (BOM).
- Obtains finished products that need packing based on orders in ERP system.
- Inspects materials, finished products and boxes at each step in the packing process to identify any visual defects.
- Assembles, labels and date stamps boxes.
- Attaches name plates to products.
- Inserts the finished products and any other necessary materials or paperwork into boxes.
- Places packed products in appropriate area per packing requirements.
- Rotates between different workstations as production needs require or to reduce fatigue.
- Examines work completed by team members for accuracy and continued operations as well as safety.
- Moves materials as needed.
- Ensures maximum output for work area; manages time effectively in order to meet strict time deadlines and production volumes.
- Performs final inspection for accurately packed products and quality; reports any issues to Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Updates the ERP for work performed.
- Maintains required documentation as directed.
- Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and any unusual conditions to Team Lead and/or Supervisor.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition; ensures equipment is in good operating condition
- Attends and participates in monthly safety meetings.
- Adheres to all safety policies and wears personal protective equipment as required.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 3 months of spray-painting experience in a production environment preferred
- Competent to operate computer and complete basic data entry in systems
- Must successfully learn specific responsibilities as assigned and adhere to production procedures
- Proficient and functioning in job responsibilities and able to attain MPS training sign-off within 90 days
- Physically able to operate spray paint equipment and hand tools.
- Ability to push, pull, lift and/or move materials of up to 30 lbs; capable of using hoists for materials over 30 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive work requiring constant alertness or activity, including standing and lifting
- Must wear personal protective equipment (masks for painting, etc.) within approved guidelines, including being clean-shaven
- Must complete annual fit testing with Safety for personal protective equipment, including respirators
- Capable of following verbal and/or written instruction
- Attention to detail is essential for success
- Well organized
This position works primarily in a production floor environment where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.
This position reports into the site every workday.
