Job Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the daily accounting operations of a multi-location manufacturing organization. This role plays a critical part in the month-end close, inventory accounting, ERP data integrity, accounts receivable and accounts payable processing, and financial reporting support.
The ideal candidate brings strong ERP experience, manufacturing accounting knowledge, and a hands‑on approach to transactional accuracy. This position works closely with the Accounting Manager to ensure clean books, strong internal controls, and consistent accounting practices across all facilities.
Financial Reporting and Close- Support month-end, and year-end close processes across multiple manufacturing locations
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Assist with financial statement preparation and consolidation support
- Ensure inventory, accruals, and transactional accounts are properly reconciled each month
- Support inventory accounting, roll‑forwards, and reconciliation between subledger and GL
- Review unvouchered receipts and ensure proper PO‑to‑receipt‑to‑invoice matching within ERP
- Assist with physical counts and variance analysis across locations
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve root causes in partnership with operations
- Manage assigned customer accounts receivable and monitor aging reports
- Proactively follow up on past‑due balances and supervise collection efforts
- Ensure accurate cash application and customer account reconciliation within ERP
- Review unvouchered receipts and support accurate period‑end accruals
- Assist in identifying potential capital expenditures within expense accounts (e.g., repairs & maintenance)
- Ensure accurate and consistent use of ERP systems for purchasing, inventory, and financial transactions
- Identify discrepancies caused by system settings, timing, or process differences and assist in resolving root causes
- Support system improvements, data cleanup initiatives, and reporting enhancements
- Work closely with plant managers, operations, supply chain, and purchasing teams to resolve transactional and reporting issues
- Communicate clearly regarding inventory, accruals, and financial discrepancies
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts through accurate transactional data
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (required)
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing
- Strong ERP experience required; inventory‑heavy environment preferred
- Working knowledge of GAAP and manufacturing cost accounting principles
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting, inventory accounting, and PO matching processes
- Advanced Excel skills; ability to analyze large data sets and reconcile discrepancies
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Collaborative mindset with desire to grow within the accounting function
Demonstrate proficiency by quickly adapting to new technology and readily acquiring new technical skills.
Work Environment and TravelOffice‑based with periodic travel to manufacturing locations as needed
May require additional hours during month‑end and year‑end close
Physical Requirements- Prolonged sitting or standing.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.
Salary is commensurate of education, years of experience, and market.
