We are seeking a Weld Production Technician responsible for producing high-quality vehicle structures across all models. Working closely with Manufacturing and Engineering teams, you will support daily production, quality standards and continuous improvement activities within a low-volume, high-performance automotive environment.
The RoleYou will carry out coded welding, bonding and assembly activities while ensuring production, quality and safety targets are achieved. Supporting both current production and future programmes, you will play a hands-on role in building vehicle structures and improving how they are manufactured.
This is your chance to:- Produce frame structures through coded welding and structural bonding processes
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to meet production targets
- Operate machinery on a low-volume production line
- Inspect finished parts, identify defects and label components correctly
- Load, unload and assemble parts ensuring correct allocation to stillages
- Work towards daily production output targets
- Assist cycle time changes, line rebalancing, trials and training activities
- Check manufacturing parts manuals and technical documentation
- Support shop safety initiatives and implement countermeasures
- Participate in team problem-solving activities
- Identify process waste and implement efficiency improvements
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to continuously improve manufacturing processes
- Support overtime, shutdown and travel requirements when necessary
- Proven practical welding expertise, particularly aluminium structures
- Certified coded welder to ISO welding standards (e.g. BS EN ISO 9606-2 and BS EN ISO 15614-2 or equivalent)
- Strong experience in aluminium joining applications (manual and/or automated)
- Post-weld quality inspection to ISO standards
- Dimensional verification to specification
- Automotive or relevant manufacturing experience within an OEM or similar environment
- Understanding of assembly processes, tooling and equipment
- Experience supporting production targets across Quality, Cost and Delivery
- Ability to contribute to problem solving within an assembly environment
- Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Team-focused approach and collaborative mindset
- Ability to work under pressure in a production environment
- Basic computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Organised, adaptable and proactive approach to continuous improvement
- Experience in low-volume automotive manufacturing
- Knowledge of aluminium welding standards and quality control processes
- Experience in tubular frame structure manufacture
The performance and safety of the vehicle depend on the accuracy and consistency of the structure beneath the bodywork. This role ensures welded and bonded assemblies are produced correctly every time, supporting both current production and future programmes while improving the efficiency and robustness of the manufacturing process.
