The OpportunityWe are seeking a Commissioned British Columbia Land Surveyor to join our growing team. This is a permanent full-time position to begin as soon as the ideal candidate is found. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for the supervision, direction, and control of land surveying services for a variety of projects.
You will plan, direct, and conduct legal surveys for the determination and establishment of real property boundaries, as well as natural or human made features. You will also prepare and maintain drawings, official plans, and related documentation.
In addition to legal surveys, this position includes topographic, hydrographic, construction layout, “as- built” and deformation surveys. It is the role and responsibility of the Legal Surveyor to be accountable for accurate and timely deliverables to our clients and assume the legal responsibility for all work.
Your ResponsibilitiesManaging survey projects from proposal to completion, including, but not limited to, subdivision and strata plans, topographic, and construction surveys.
Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations, with support from VAST’S management team.
Prepare plans, drawings, reports, and proposals with attention to accuracy and quality.
Preparation of proposals, costs estimate, and project schedules.
Maintain accurate records to document work performed.
Providing clients with advice and consultation regarding survey and land development projects.
Coordination and direction of field crews and technical staff.
Develop strong client relations, participate in business development activities including identifying & securing new clients, increase work with existing clients and representing the organization at industry events.
Following and upholding company safety policies.
Liaising with internal Engineering, Biology and Forestry departments
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility, adaptive management and teamwork is a definiteasset.
Our Ideal CandidateMinimum 5 years of experience in legal land surveying in good standing with the Association of British Columbia Land Surveyors.
Registered as a Professional BC Land Surveyor.
The possession of a CLS commission is seen as an asset.
Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering would be an asset.
Must be knowledgeable in the statutes, regulations, and practices of the Land Surveyors Act and Land Title Act, Local Government Act, Land Act and Land Survey Act.
Proven experience managing project budgets and financial reporting.
Competence in managing various survey project types including legal, land development (subdivisions) and infrastructure, topographic, engineering and construction layout.
Proficiency in preparing accurate field notes, drawings, and deliverables from initial data collection through to final submission.
Ensuring quality assurance procedures are carried out for proposals, field returns, drawings, legal plans, documents, proposals and other deliverables.
Providing advice to clients on property and legal survey matters.
Technical competence and strong attention to detail.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Valid BC Driver’s License.
