About the Role
An opportunity is available for a competent and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join an established construction team.
As a key team member, you will work closely with site managers, engineers, contractors, and other professionals to manage project costs, risks, procurement, and contract administration. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on programme and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Cost Management
* Prepare cost estimates, take-offs, and tender documentation.
* Manage project budgets, including forecasting and cost monitoring.
* Carry out Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
* Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage live commercial risks alongside site teams.
* Maintain accurate records of project costs and financial transactions.
Procurement & Negotiation
* Negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors to secure best value and terms.
* Undertake procurement activities in line with project requirements.
* Review and negotiate contracts and subcontracts prior to signing.
Pre-Construction & Contract Administration
* Interpret client requirements and undertake detailed take-offs from drawings.
* Identify and resolve discrepancies between drawings, specifications, and contract conditions.
* Participate in pre-tender activities with clients, designers, and project managers.
* Prepare interim and final applications, variations, and claims.
* Support risk management and contract administration processes.
Required
Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, preferably within construction.
* Strong knowledge of construction practices, regulations, and industry standards.
* Proficiency in cost estimation and cost management techniques.
* Good understanding of contract administration and legal aspects of construction projects.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, relevant industry applications, web portals, Whats App, and AutoCAD.
Preferred Experience
* Professional membership or certification in quantity surveying or construction management.
* Experience across infrastructure, residential, and commercial projects.
* Knowledge of health & safety regulations and environmental standards.
* Familiarity with construction contracts and contract law.
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality delivery
