We are looking for an experienced, passionate and patient Maths & English Tutor, who holds Qualified Teacher Status. We are working in partnership with Northumberland County Council to provide 1-to-1 or small group tuition to young people who have SEND or have been permanently excluded.

We have several referrals available across Northumberland, particularly around Cramlington & Blyth that require a Tutor that holds QTS. Within this role, you must be able to create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lessons as a means of alternate education. One of your aims will be to support and re‑engage a pupil in their learning, offer structure back into their daily routine, continue their educational development and aid their return to school.

Patience is a key attribute as young people may have a prolonged period out of education or may have Social Emotional and Mental Health needs.

We will work with you to build your timetable and achieve the number of hours you are wanting to work. This is the perfect opportunity for a Qualified Teacher who is wanting to leave a classroom setting while still making a significant difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

• Ongoing placement, or until the young person returns to school

• Full time or part time hours available

• Experience tutoring Maths and English on a 1:1 or small group basis
• QTS
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils

• Hold a right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to complete a new application
• Provide references to cover the last two years of employment
• The ability to commit to the young person and work for the duration of the placement
