Join our team at M&S as a Shift Lead in our Food section. You will champion our high-quality products, great value offers, and excellent customer service. You’ll be a brand ambassador who’s ready to recommend our newest Food products and ensure customers feel valued through remarkable service.
Rate of Pay
£14.47 per hour (increasing from £13.65 p/h from 1st April 2026) plus £3.00 per hour Unsocial Premium for any hours worked between 22:00 and 06:00.
Work Pattern
Week 1:
Mon 05:00-13:00;
Tue 15:00-23:00;
Wed 15:00-23:00;
Fri 05:00-13:00;
Sat 15:00-23:00.
Week 2:
Sun 10:00-19:00;
Mon 15:00-23:00;
Tue 15:00-23:00;
Fri 05:00-13:00;
Sat 05:00-13:00.
- Lead the fill operation, delivering a sales floor that is ready to trade and coordinating resources to serve, sell and fill. Lead the floor in the absence of the Colleague Manager.
- Coordinate resources to deliver operational tasks during the fill operation and in the absence of the Colleague Manager.
- Lead the fill operation, coaching colleagues on One Best Way and driving productivity in readiness for store opening.
- Allocate resources effectively to deliver a quick payment experience.
- Enable daily operational processes to be implemented efficiently across their area of the store, at the correct times.
- Coordinate the team to deliver a clean, safe and well-presented store.
- Foster a great team atmosphere that is inclusive of everyone.
- Role model excellent customer service and the M&S behaviours and colleague expectations.
- Support Colleague Managers by sharing observations to help deliver high performance and recognise great colleagues.
- Support nearby stores if operationally required.
- Be a key holder and respond to call outs as required.
- Handle opening and closing tasks, including receipt of vehicles, temperature controls, logging operational issues with Helpdesks, cash handling and TSL compliance in peripheral hours.
